Discovering Strength Training at 42
I was 42 years old when Mark became my strength training coach. When I first met him, I felt as if I was an expert at cardio workouts – classes and equipment, but not when it came to strength training. I always avoided the weight section of the gym. Confidence and lack of knowledge stopped me.
Setting Goals with a Personal Coach
Goal 1: Mastering Strength Training Basics
My goals when I started with Mark were twofold: To learn about strength training – terminology, form, movements.
Goal 2: Understanding My Body
The second goal was to learn about my body. Both goals I felt would help build the confidence I needed and wanted.
The Impact of a Great Coach
Mark is by far one of the best coaches I have ever had. He is patient and attentive to detail. He is very knowledgeable about the body and strength training.
Personalized and Creative Workouts
His workouts are creative and purposeful. He takes the time to explain the movements and their benefits, and is always willing to make modifications if needed.
Respectful and Supportive Coaching Style
He does all of this without arrogance and judgment. He is respectful and overall a very kind person.
Reflecting on My Strength Training Journey
I feel fortunate that our paths have crossed and have benefited greatly both physically and mentally by having him as my coach.
